Targeted Care for Pain, Migraines, and Digestive Health

Pain

Migraines

Digestive (IBS)

Many patients seek acupuncture for ongoing pain, migraines, and digestive concerns such as IBS and reflux. These conditions are often persistent, and can significantly affect daily life.

Treatment focuses on identifying the underlying pattern contributing to your symptoms, rather than addressing each issue in isolation. This allows care to be both more precise and more effective over time.

Whether you are dealing with chronic pain, recurring migraines, or digestive imbalance, the goal is to reduce symptom frequency and intensity while improving overall stability.

How I Treat

I use a structured, analytical approach rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine to identify patterns and guide treatment. Each visit is focused, intentional, and adapted to how your condition is presenting at that time.

Treatment may include acupuncture, herbal formulas, and practical guidance that you can apply outside of the clinic. The goal is not only to create change during the session, but to support progress between visits.

Care is designed to move you toward greater stability and independence, so that over time, you are less reliant on ongoing treatment and more confident in managing your own health.

About

Acupuncturist • TCM Herbalist • Chinese Metaphysics Enthusiast

Hi, I'm Tammy.

I began my career in accounting after earning my Commerce degree from UBC. After obtaining my CPA, I stepped away from work to raise my family.

During that time, my baby developed severe eczema. Traditional Chinese Medicine was what resolved it — I went down this wonderful rabbit hole and it changed my path completely. Read more about this in the blog.

I went on to study at the Alberta College of Acupuncture and TCM, and for over 10 years I’ve been serving Calgarians as a practitioner, educator, and volunteer acupuncturist.

I take a structured, analytical approach to treatment and focus on pain, migraines, and digestive health.

Outside the clinic, I enjoy time with my kids and friends, cooking, knitting, and studying TCM foundations and Chinese Metaphysics.

Services

Acupuncture

$90 initial (75 min) • $60 follow-up (45 min)

Common reasons for seeking treatment include pain conditions, migraines, and digestive issues such as IBS and reflux.

Treatment may incorporate Traditional Chinese Medicine, Balance Method, Master Tung, auricular acupuncture, and motor point release, depending on your presentation, treatment is guided by how the body is functioning as a whole.

To support effective treatment, it is recommended to arrive having eaten lightly within a few hours and wearing loose-fitting clothing that allows access to the arms and legs.

In some cases, acupuncture may not be appropriate (for example, if you are very fatigued, have not eaten, or are taking certain medications such as blood thinners). While I do see many women's health issues, my treatments tend to be a bit too moving so I do not treat IVF-fertility or while pregnant - you can see the lovely folks at https://www.wellnesson1st.com (1st St/16 Ave NW) , Cheryl Lee (clwilliams4@gmail.com - Nolan Hill), or Sarah Kim (sarahkimcalgary@gmail.com - downtown core) for this care.

Telehealth

$90 initial (45 min) • $30 follow-up (15 min)

Don't have time to come in to get your pulse read? You can send in other information at least 24 hours in advance of your telehealth appointment, which includes lots of detail on the intake and progress forms, pictures of your tongue and ears, and ideally blood pressure readings. Your information will be reviewed and the telehealth appointment will be to confirm the diagnosis. You then can visit herb shops to buy OTC herbs, or if you wish to purchase herbs from me, your herbs will be mailed out to you. To get the most out of telehealth appointments, it would be best to invest in a blood pressure monitor so you can send that information as well. (Costco has very decent and reasonably priced digital blood pressure monitors. I have no affiliation with Costco.)

TCM Herbal Formulas

$30 / 50g - taken over approx 7-10 days

I use Classical TCM formulas in granule form - a dissolvable powder which you add to a cup of hot water and stir, much like how instant coffee is prepared. While less potent than raw herbs, the granules taste much better and are much less work, a very welcome innovation in this ancient tradition. I use brands that have Health Canada NPNs to meet Health Canada's standards for endangered species and contamination/toxicity.

Advanced Pulse Tutorials

$200 each person / 4 hours

Advanced pulse diagnosis sessions for acupuncture and herbs. You should already be familiar with TCM patterns before considering this session. 2 - 4 participants. Boardroom needs to be booked in advance. Learn how to read the pulse and use the Plum Blossom I Ching and TCM webapp for acupuncture and herbs. 1 year access to the webapp is included.

Practice Information

A simple, patient-focused practice

I run a small, independent practice where I manage all aspects of care — from treatment to administration. This allows me to keep things simple and focus fully on you during your visit.

At this time, I do not offer direct billing to third-party insurance providers. Receipts will be provided so you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement or use for tax purposes.

Most insurance plans cover acupuncture, however herbal medicine and telehealth appointments are often not included. To avoid disappointment, please check with your provider in advance.

Payment methods: E-transfer and cash accepted.

Cancellation Policy: At this time, short notice cancellations are no big deal. Make sure to login and cancel the appointment at least 1 hour before the appointment starts to ensure it is deleted off the booking system in time. If your appointment is not removed from the booking system before it starts, then it will count as a No Show. SEE NO SHOW POLICY BELOW. As the practice grows I will consider charging a cancellation fee as other patient and personal scheduling decisions are made based on our appointment.

No Show Policy: My booking software charges a fee for each appointment. A No Show fee of $5 will be charged to cover this cost if the appointment is not deleted before the start time, and an invoice will be emailed to you. As the practice grows I will consider raising this to cover not only the cost incurred but for other people's time.

Late Policy: Appointments will not be extended beyond your scheduled appointment time. Please note that, I find the optimal needle retention time is 30 minutes, less than that acupuncture may not be as effective.
